Debris Impact Testing Using Nudura

Nudura's insulated concrete form (ICF) wall system is designed to provide extreme impact resistance and withstand winds of up to 250 mph (402 kph). The strength of the insulated concrete assembly comes from the steel-reinforced monolithic concrete wall with two sides of continuous insulation. Nudura offers ICF blocks with core sizes ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches that will be filled with solid concrete.

When compared to traditional wood-frame walls that offer only soft bat insulation and a wood frame, the strength and safety you get with Nudura ICF assemblies is far superior.

This video shows Debris Impact Testing that was conducted by ABC Domes and Wind Science & Engineering Research Center Debris Impact Test Facility at Texas Tech University. The test demonstrates the performance of a Nudura insulated concrete form wall system against the impact of debris at tornado wind speeds. The criteria required a 15 lb. wooden 2x4 beam to be propelled at 100 mph to replicate the forces of a 250 mph (402 kph) ground speed tornado.

*All tests were conducted in strict accordance with the guidelines of FEMA 320/361 and ICC-500.
